Project-Based Learning
Context:
Microsoft's
Partners in Learning (PiL) has joined with the International Society
for Technology in Education (ISTE) to develop a Project-Based Learning
(PBL) curriculum to use in countries worldwide. Designed for grades
6-12, the curriculum offers a description of project-based learning and
actual projects teachers can adapt and use.
Read about the ways in which countries have adapted this curriculum to meet their local needs in 2 articles by Kristen Weatherby published in Leading and Learning with Technology:
- "Project-Based Learning Around the World" Part 1, February 2007
- "Project-Based Learning Around the World" Part 2, March 2007
Innovation summary:
How this resource can support you along the innovation continuum:
- Explore the value of project-based learning (PBL) and what this means for different countries.
- What are the benefits of PBL.
Key points:
- Any resources should be completely localizable so that each country could adapt them to the needs of its own local education system.
- PBL has been used in Denmark for the last 10-15 years and is nationally mandated in some subjects. As a methodology, it is well recognized and respected.
